Since April 2002, the Adalbert
Stifter Association has been affiliated with the institution of
the „Culture Advisor on the Bohemian Regions“. Its basic activity
is stated in § 96 of the BVFG (the law on refugees and exiled people),
that binds the Federation and States to the „care of cultural assets
of refugees and displaced persons and the promotion of scientific
research“ as well as the preservation of German cultural assets
in Central and Eastern Europe.
One of the main duties of
the culture advisor is to ensure that the German society is made
aware of the German-Bohemian Sudeten German cultural traditions,
by contributing to events within the framework of broader cultural
work. Cross-border measures such as seminars, conferences, cultural
youth programmes, lectures, readings, and so on, are organised by
the culture advisor alone, however in full co-operation with other
institutions. His work on the project includes co-operation with
schools and education centres of all kinds, especially with cultural
institutions bearing a connection with the issue of expulsion and/or
displacement, such as the Ackermann-Society, the Sudeten German
Heimatpflege etc. The widest-possible networking of institutions
in the area of Czech-German cultural exchange is sought in the process.
The application for
sponsorships with the culture advisor
Apart from being engaged
in numerous own projects, the culture advisor also serves as the
contact person for applicants, seeking sponsorship for broader cultural
projects on the basis of § 96 of the BVFG (the law on refugees and
exiled people) from the Government Representative for Culture
and the Media in Bonn . The respective requests for grants
should be presented to the culture advisor at least five months
before the project is launched, in order to allow thorough processing
and provide ample time for the grant approval notification. The
pre-printed formulae should be used for all requests. As
well as a description of the project, the application should include
information on the applicant and concrete time, place and programme
plans, including a list of project participants, and previously
granted support for subsequent projects. A budget plan should be
submitted. The final decision on all applications is made by the
Government Representative for Culture and the Media (BKM) in Bonn
, with the approval of the Oldenburg Government Institute for
German Culture and History in Eastern Europe (BKGE)
.
The Guide for the Application
for Federal Funds for Research, Preservation and Presentation of
German Culture and History in eastern Europe as well as the
Conception of the Government Representative for Cultural and
Media Affairs for the Research and Presentation of German Culture
and History in Eastern Europe , dated September 2000, can serve
as a guideline for applicants.
